CJB training and adventure must provide professionally qualified instructors for the provided courses/activities/events. This is with accordance with the risk assessments and operating procedures.
Each event will be planned, risk assessed before issued to clients. A difficulty rating will be suggesting who would be suitable for each event:
Grade – 1
Appropriate for everyone including families and senior citizens.
Grade – 2
Suitable for most, but might have elements of uneven terrain, uphill gradient or lifting of watercraft on water based courses.
Grade – 3
Elements of fitness is recommended. Moderate level of uneven terrain, uphill gradient or lifting of watercraft on water based courses.
Grade – 4
Ideal for those comfortable on uneven ground with steep terrain. High level of fitness is suggested.
Before participants attend an event, they MUST complete a consent form. If the participant fails to complete a consent form CJB training and adventure has the right to refuse the participation.
The instructor must ensure the conditions are safe and suitable for the group, this will include looking at two weather reports. Further the instructor must carry the following and the ‘leader’ of the group: Group shelter and mountain leader first aid kit.
CJB training and adventure will supply personal protective equipment where essential, such as helmets or harnesses, walking boots, waterproof clothing will not be provided.
The activity will begin with an initial safety brief, this allows the instructor to cite the dangers, interests and plans for the activity. This will include asking the participants for information about uncited medical conditions anyone has ‘not disclosed’ on the consent forms.
For navigation courses/events a map will be provided with a suitable compass and navigational aids where possible. Participants are asked to remember equipment can be expensive and to treat our equipment with respect.
Payment/Cancellation/Refund Payment
CJB training and adventure requires a non-refundable deposit in order to make a booking, the remaining balance is then required at least 28 days prior to the activity date.
If you are booking within 28 days we will require the full balance upon booking.
CJB training and adventure reserves the right to cancel a booking without notice for which no payment has been made or if a balance is overdue
Payment must be provided either through BACS or PayPal, cash will not be accepted on the event day. Once payment has been made all booking will be confirmed with a confirmation email. Please note the confirmation email is NOT automated.
By CJB training and adventure:
Whilst every reasonable attempt will be made to ensure that all activities do go ahead, CJB training and adventure may have to postpone or modify locations due to unforeseen circumstances – the outdoors is a dynamic environment, and many things are beyond our control. In these instances you will be contacted as soon as reasonably possibly to allow you to rearrange for suitable dates.
Some course/events may have minimum number of students that we have to meet to allow us to run them. In addition, some assessments require prescribed conditions. If these are not attained an alternative will be offered.
Any losses incurred by you due to cancellation by us can be claimed on travel insurance. CJB training and adventure highly recommends you take out a policy to avoid disappointment.
If we deem it necessary to cancel a session once it has started due to safety concerns relating to an individual’s behaviour then no refund will be issued, and no alternative will be offered.
Cancellations by You
If you cancel a booking, then we regret to inform you that refunds cannot be given. If you cancel, we may be able to rearrange your booking for an alternative date – with events/holidays that only happen once a year then this is obviously very difficult, and an alternative may have to be considered.
Booking course/activity/events
Upon booking a course/activity/event a confirmation email will be sent citing location, equipment required and any other details regarding the course/activity/event. Further, the email will have payment details included such as Bacs and PayPal.
CJB training and adventure reserve the right to postpone or cancel the day due to weather conditions on the day, or any other unforeseen event, an alternative date will be arranged.
CJB training and adventure will not be liable for any additional cost’s, i.e. fuel, accommodation, food, loss of earnings if the day is cancelled.
CJB training and adventure reserve the right to cancel a day due to irresponsible behavior.
CJB training and adventure reserve the right to exclude participants on the day if deemed not to be dressed appropriately for the conditions on the day.
You are advised to have your own accident and cancellation insurance.
CJB training and adventure will not be liable for any loss or damage to your personal belongings.
As a responsible Outdoor Activity Provider all Adventure Activities from any provider carry a risk of injury or death. This is a participation statement from the British Mountaineering Council. However, these are managed with Generic and Dynamic Risk Assessments to make the activities as safe as possible.
Failing to arrive at or before the scheduled time will not entitle you to a refund or re booking. There will be no compensation paid for consequential losses, lost or additional travelling expenses or other expenses of a similar nature.
CJB training and adventure does not supply transport. Your own transport will be required for the whole day. (i.e. a car).
Under 18’s will need a parent or legally appointed guardian with them.
All participants are required to complete a consent form. These need to be returned on the day, you will not be able to take part without a completed consent form.
Timings are approximate and may vary depending on activity, weather, group size, ability, time spent having lunch etc (including meeting, kit up, activities, lunch (not provided) and de-kit).

Regardless of their role, all staff have a duty to keep young people safe and to protect them from sexual, physical, and emotional harm. CJB training and adventure believe that should provide a positive, caring, safe environment which promotes the social, physical and moral development of the individual child or vulnerable adult.
The Children Act 2004, The Protection of Children Act 1999 and the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, all place a duty on organisations to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people. This includes the need to ensure that all adults who work with or on behalf of children and young people are competent, confident, and safe to do so.
All under 18’s year old must have a parent or legally appointed guardian present throughout the activity.
CJB training and adventure recognises that some clients may require us to make changes to our standard operation policies. Examples include the wearing of religious headwear or jewellery. Wherever possible we will be flexible with our procedures whilst ensuring safety requirements are met.
CJB training and adventure is used to catering for dietary needs but is not a specialist catering facility. Students with special dietary needs, religious or otherwise, can be catered for when information is provided in advance.
CJB training and adventure will strive to offer, wherever possible, access to specialist equipment in order to enable specific client groups to participate in adventurous activities.
CJB training and adventure recognises that some clients needs will require increased staffing. Whenever possible this will be provided at no extra cost enabling individuals to participate alongside their peers.
It is our company policy not to draw any attention to special arrangements or facilities provided for clients with specific needs. This policy is designed not to draw extra attention to the individuals involved.
Our instructors will actively challenge discrimination and bullying and strive to provide an equal playing field enabling personal growth for all our clients.

Due to the nature of the activities and outdoor venues, it may not always be possible to cater for all clients needs. Please be assured that wherever this is the case School Camp staff will provide honest and frank information and suggest alternative activities.
It is important that our clients provide honest information regarding any special requirements and needs. The company can only cater for, or advise of and issues challenges for needs that they are aware of before the event.
Adventure activities are potentially hazardous with a danger of personal injury. By booking a course/activity you are aware of and accept these risks and will be responsible for your own and your groups actions and involvement. An instructor who holds the relevant awards or qualifications will lead these activities and will maintain a high level of safety throughout the activities. To enable CJB training and adventure to manage these risks you agree to acknowledge the need for responsible behavior and that the instructor’s word is final on all matters of safety. You confirm that you are familiar with the nature of the activities that you wish to undertake and acknowledge those risks that are inherent therein and that you may freely withdraw from the activity and there is no pressure whatsoever to take part.
As a company CJB training and adventure has Public Liability insurance.
Our courses/activities do not include any personal accident, cancellation, or personal injury insurance. We recommend that you take out your own policy with a sports leisure company. We will accept no responsibility whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to personal property.
Insurance covers All activities in the UK only the scope of the Mountain Training Association qualifications, including Mountain leader summer and Rock climbing Instructor (formerly Single Pitch Award).
Public liability covers up to the amount of £5,000,000.

Next, we ensure to reduce the amount of plastic we use where possible. This is to use refillable water bottles and reusable containers for food. Travel is a big concern of CJB training and adventure, care sharing is suggested where appropriate. Further, using suable car parks/parking areas that does not affect the wider environment.
We are always looking at protecting the environment, which reviewing this is ongoing and essential.
The vast majority of people who take or view photographs or videos of children do so for
entirely innocent, understandable, and acceptable reasons. Sadly, some people abuse.
children through taking or using images, so we must ensure that we have some safeguards
in place. To protect our customers we will:
