Location: At Hollingwood Hub their is a café and limited spaces to get changed. The car park is open from 09:30-4pm. 

Course Content:
We will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to enable you to get on the water
safely and make your boat move in all directions, with fun and games along the way.

After the session you will have gained your British Canoeing Paddle Start Award (and
eCertificate on request). The skills learnt in the session will make you feel safe and confidentwhen out on the water.

Paddle start award consist of:
 Clothing and equipment information, think of it like a crash course in everything you
need to physically get yourself on the water, covering all the types of equipment you’ll
need

 Tips for getting on the water including how to get safely in and out of your canoe,
kayak or SUP from different places you are likely to paddle
 Learn to paddle with practical skills such as paddling forward, turning and stopping…
pretty much everything you need to get started and moving
 Staying safe on and off the water, you’ll learn about how to stay safe and make the
most out of your paddle session

What we provide:
Equipment we will provide will be the Stand Up Paddleboard, Paddle, Licence fee to be on the water at the location. Buoyancy aid and a wealth of knowledge. 

This will be available to all ages from age 7 and above.

  • Old trainers you don’t mind getting wet
  • Towel (large is recommended)

Layout of the session: 

We will be looking at the paddleboard in detail naming all the different elements of the craft, what to lookout for when buying one for yourself. Then after a warm up and a chat about safety, we head out on the canal to learn all the skills required to become a successful paddler. Skills learnt will be to help you control your paddleboard in open spaces and confined places. Towards the end we’ll head back to the hub, to consolidate your new skills.
