Mountain Navigation Course Overview

Are you ready to take the leap into the hills? This two-day course will give you the skills you need to be safe and enjoy those big days out. We’ll introduce you to the world of mountaineering and get you ready to take on your own mountain adventures.

The Mountain Navigation syllabus covers the following aspects:
 Planning

What is not included in the price:
Unfortunately food is not included as everyone has different dietary requirements.

costs this course has a minimum running number of 3

 Clothing and Equipment
 Steep group movement
 Navigation in the Mountains
 Environmental Knowledge
 Hazards and Emergency Procedures in the Mountains

This two day course will focus on getting you ready to experience the mountains safely.
what to wear, how to read a map, how to prepare for those difficult situations in the
mountains.

What do you need to bring with you?
-food and drink for the two days
-suitable walking boots/trainers
-Medication
-Walking poles can be useful
Day rucksack around 30L
Waterproof clothing both jacket and trousers

Suitable clothing which lends itself to walking. Jeans are not recommended.

-safety equipment, such as first aid kit
-Map and compass
-Local knowledge

Where about in Snowdonia is this course based?

The course will be based around Ogwen Valley and Capal-curig. Due to the nature of the mountain, weather can change fast and that may have an affect on the route and mountain we climb.
